The annual Decatur County Fall Festival and Fair will have a different kind of animal this year, said Keith Lyle, chairman of the chamber’s fair committee.
Chehaw Park will have two exhibits this year, which is something new for the fair.
“We’re getting the Chehaw Park, and they are coming with an interactive display with all kinds of animals,” Lyle said. “This is the cool stuff.”
He said the Chehaw Park display will not necessarily be a petting zoo, although there will be a petting zoo called the “little people petting zoo” with the “nice, soft, fluffy” animals available for petting. Chehaw Park will include animals of prey and the like.
The fair begins on Tuesday, Nov. 2, and continues through Saturday, Nov. 6.
Gates open at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and at 4 p.m. on Saturday, which Lyle said was to make it more family friendly so young children can come early.
Family Attraction Amusements LLC will once again provide a midway full of rides, games and food. The midway should be full of 21 rides.
Pre-sale admission tickets are available through Monday at the banks, the Chamber of Commerce and various chamber merchants in town. They are $4 for admission, and armbands for rides are $14. Tickets at the gate are $5, and armbands for Tuesday and Wednesday are $14. Thursday, Friday and Saturday armband tickets are $16 each.
