Mr. Willie Floyd Cox Jr. passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at his home in Brinson. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Thompson Freewill Baptist Church in Colquitt, Ga. Rev. Bobby Whittaker will be officiating. Interment will be held in Thompson Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Willie Floyd Cox Jr. was born April 7, 1945, in Mitchell County, Ga., to Willie Floyd Cox Sr. and Stella Singleton Cox. He was a graduate of Hopeful High School. Floyd retired from Pepsi Bottling Group, after working for many years as a warehouse manager. He was presently employed at Mitchell Builders. Mr. Cox was a member and served as a deacon at Thompson Free Will Baptist Church. Floyd loved to fish and was an avid gardener. He was a dedicated SEC football fan. He was so very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; loving them with all his heart.

Floyd Cox is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cox of Brinson; children, Darrell Cox and wife, Tracy of Bainbridge, Dennis Cox and wife, Kristy of Whigham, Ga., Lesa Mathis and husband, Kent of Iron City, Ga., Gayle Newsome and husband, Mike of Colquitt, Ga.; grandchildren, Reagan and Garrett Cox, Adrian and Ryan Sadler, Will Cox, William Mathis and Chason Mathis, Roger West, Dana, Derek, and Daniel Newsome; brother, Alvie Cox; sister, Juanita Cox; great grandchildren, Hilton Newsome, Andruw West, and Madelyn Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.
