James A. Culverhouse

Funeral services for James Amos Culverhouse, 74, of Tallahassee, Fla., were held on Monday, Nov. 8, at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Bascom, Fla., with the Rev. Henry Fullington officiating.

Interment followed at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Charles Olive, Johnny Olive, Gerald Thompson, Thurman Tidwell, Wilson Brogden and Grady Cloud acting as casketbearers.

Mr. Culverhouse was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Gordon, Ala., and died Nov. 5, 2010, at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.

He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a maintenance supervisor for real estate property.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Asbury and Doris Tidwell Culverhouse, and one sister, Emma Alice Culverhouse.

He is survived by his wife, Eddie Vann Culverhouse of Tallahassee; a son, Robert Barton of Tallahassee; two daughters, Sandy Fenstermaker of Tallahassee and Toni Toma of Norfolk, Mass.; five sisters, Eleanor Ligon of Bristol, Fla., Katie McKinnie of Sneads, Fla., Mary Garner of Alabaster, Ala., Virginia Curls of Orlando, Fla., and Vernette Dant of Dothan, Ala., and nine grandchildren.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
