A service of thanksgiving and celebration for Christelle Proctor Olive, 90, of Bainbridge, was held Sunday, Dec. 5, at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Medley and Harold P. Burrell officiating.

Interment followed at Oak City Cemetery with Harold P. Burrell, Harold P. Burrell Jr., James T. Burrell, Lewis M. Carter Jr., L. Marcus Carter III, Joshua L. McCullough, T. Hill Olive and Walter T. Burrell serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Tommy Wheeler Sunday School Class and the Lydia Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Olive was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Cairo, Ga., the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Proctor and Annie Grace Meadows Proctor. She died Dec. 3, 2010, at her residence.

She graduated from Cairo High School and attended South Georgia College. On Dec. 24, 1938, she married Joye A. “Skeet” Olive of Bainbridge. Mrs. Olive was an active member of First Baptist Church where she served as WMU director, Sunday School teacher and committee member. She was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and the Saints Alive Senior Choir. She was also an active volunteer for the American Red Cross Auxiliary at Memorial Hospital and a member of the Charlie King Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, J.A. “Skeet” Olive of Bainbridge; her daughters, Joy O. Burrell and her husband, Harold, of Bainbridge, and Betty O. Carter and her husband, Lewis, of Donalsonville, Ga.; her son, Thomas W. Olive of Bainbridge; her sister, Grace P. Veal of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
