Cairo edges Bearcats, 2-1

The Cairo High School Syrupmakers scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning late Tuesday at Cairo’s Jackie Robinson Field to pull out a 2-1 victory over the Bainbridge High School Bearcats.
The winning run was scored by first baseman Connor Butler who was hit by a pitch, and doubled home by catcher Chase Funderburk.
The Syrupmakers took an early 1-0 lead when right fielder Alex Baxter reached on an error and came around to score.
The Bearcats tied it up 1-1 in the top of the sixth. Centerfielder Tate Lambert was hit by a pitch and came in on a double by right fielder Michael Faircloth.
