Friday night, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., hundreds from the community will be in the holiday spirit as Grace Christian Church hosts their seventh annual Field By Night.

Each year, Grace transforms an empty grassy field into a vibrant Christmas village, offering a modern Christmas tradition to everyone in the surrounding areas.

After weeks of behind-the-scenes preparation, a team of volunteers will begin the setup in early afternoon.

Before dusk, a small holiday town will be constructed. Each village shop will be trimmed in lights, and colorful ribbon will adorn the small lampposts. When the event begins at 7 p.m., crowds will overtake the town, stopping at the various storefronts to sample soups at the “Chowder House” or fudge from the “Candy Store.” Many will take a family picture at the “Photo Shop.”

A few minutes into the evening, the multimedia presentation will launch on “the edge” of the Christmas village, in the Grace gymnasium. There, the crowd will enjoy a unique blend of original film, real-life stories and engaging music. The presentation will be all-new again this year, and much of it has been created especially for this event.

At the end of the brief multimedia event, the crowds will spill back into the Christmas village, where many may stay for nearly an hour, enjoying all Grace had to offer.

The Field By Night is held each year on a Friday in early December, and there is no charge for any part of this event. It is presented by the people of Grace Church, intended to be a lasting Christmas memory for the entire family.

Well over a hundred volunteers help to make this event a reality, creatively highlighting Jesus Christ, the baby of Bethlehem, during the Christmas season.
