Decatur County schools are holding Pre-K registration on Tuesday, Feb. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Elcan-King, John Johnson, Jones-Wheat, Potter Street and West Bainbridge elementary schools.
Students must be 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2011, and parents must register the student in the zone where the family lives. Children living in the zone will be placed on the rolls first. Out-of-zone children will be placed on a waiting list.
Parents and/or guardians must bring proof of Georgia residency and age documentation.
Acceptable proof of age includes original/certified birth certificate, passport, green card, pink card or Federal I-94 and hospital record of live birth.
Residency documentation examples include current lease, current vehicle registration form, letter from shelter, letter from employer if employer provides housing, and any utility bill listing the residence as the service address. A cell phone bill or a driver’s license is not acceptable proof of residency.
Social Security cards or numbers are not required to enroll in Georgia’s Pre-K, but will be requested for record-keeping reasons. For children without a Social Security number, written statements are required to be given to the school stating you do not wish to or cannot provide that information.
Other information required is a copy of immunization form 3231 and copy of Medicaid/PeachCare card. Proof of income is also required if the student is applying for free or reduced lunches.
