7th grade drops 2 to Central

The Bainbridge Middle School seventh-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats basketball teams dropped two games to Thomas County Central Middle School on Wednesday at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.

In the opener, the Lady Cats lost 34-7 to the Lady Yellow Jackets; and in the nightcap, the Bearcats lost 33-24 to the Yellow Jackets.

Lakasia Willis led the way for the Lady Cats with four points. Tyra Adams added three.

In the boys’ game, the Bearcats pulled even 4-4 when Keyshawn Madge hit a jumper from the right side with 1:14 remaining in the first quarter.

They took a 6-4 lead when Dalvin Spivie hit a layup off the left glass at the 0:48 mark. Tyler Jackson’s field goal with 19 seconds left sent them to the second quarter with an 8-4 lead.

The Bearcats outscored the Yellow Jackets 7-6 in the second quarter to take a 15-10 halftime lead. Madge, Spivie and Eddie Cooper each had a field goal and Ladon Crankfield had a field goal.

The Yellow Jackets outscored the Bearcats 11-2 in the third quarter and 12-7 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

The Bearcats’ Tyler Jackson took game-dscoring honors with 14 points. Kelvin Williams led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 12.
