Bearcats football holds summer practices, looks forward to the season

A tough 2023 schedule makes football fundamentals a key component of the Bearcats’ off-season training.

The Bainbridge varsity football team is in its second week of preseason practice. The sessions are split between weight room and on-field activities. Head Coach Jeff Littleton said he wants to see the players build their fundamentals through the summer to be ready for the team’s demanding schedule.

“When you play tough opponents, your fundamentals and techniques got to be perfect,” Littleton said. “We’ve got a short time to get all that correct.”

Littleton said he’s looking ahead to the team’s home opener against Eagles Landing.

“We have a tough schedule,” Littleton said. “We’ll have to be performing at our best early on in the season to be able to compete with the teams we have on the schedule.”

The head coach said the offensive personnel will be familiar with “a lot” of guys returning. He said he’s looking to the offensive line to be leaders for the offense this season. The Bearcats will continue to practice in the weeks leading up to the season and will attend two OTA camps to further enrich the team.
