The Bainbridge High School varsity baseball team split a pair of baseball games Friday and Monday.

On Friday, they dropped a tight 8-6 Region 1AAAA decision to the Northside High School Warner Robins Eagles. On Monday, the Bearcats defeated the Thomasville High School Bulldogs 13-3 at home on senior night.

Prior to the game, senior Bearcats players and Diamond Dolls were honored with their families.

Four seniors, players Marty Anderson, Sutton Reece and Ryan Wade and Diamond Doll Jennifer Voyles and their families are pictured in today’s paper.

In Saturday’s paper, we will feature pictures of players Drew Kelley, Stephen Lightfoot and Thomas Timmons and Diamond Dolls Allison Kelley and Sallie King and their families.

The Friday and Monday split improved the Bearcats season record to 10-11. They are 1-6 in Region 1AAAA play and 0-3 in Region 1AAAA South Sub-Region play.

They will complete their regular season with a Region 1AAAA South Sub-Region double header here Friday against the Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets. The first game will begin at 5 p.m.

The Bearcats took a 1-0 Friday lead over Northside Warner Robins in the top of the first Friday.

Shortstop Ryan Wade started the rally with a one-out single, and came in on back to back two-out singles by catcher Drew Kelley and designated hitter Gunnar Griffin.

The Bearcats big-scoring inning was the top of the seventh, when they rallied for three runs to take a 6-5 lead.

Third baseman Steven Bench got aboard on an error to open the Bearcats seventh and came in on a single by shortstop Ryan Wade. First baseman Blake Voyles was safe at first when his hard grounder to short forced Wade at second.

Catcher Drew Kelley singled home Voyles, stole a base, and came in on a sacrifice by Griffin. The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh on a double, a single and a sacrifice fly to pull out the victory.

Two-run home runs by Blake Voyles in the first and Drew Kelley in the third staked the Bearcats to an early 4-0 lead over the Bulldogs on Monday, and they continued to build on it.

The game was stopped after five innings due to the rule that declares a team leading by 10 runs after five innings the victor.
