Conger-Farr vows exchanged

Ava Joy Conger and Edward McCall Benham Farr were united in marriage on April 18, 2015 at five o’clock in the evening at the Taylor-Grady House in Athens, Georgia. Reverend Stephen Webb performed the ceremony. The couple was married beneath a white tent with twinkle lighting before an arbor decorated with a full spray arrangement of white hydrangeas, blush peonies, light blush Bridal Akito roses, ivory and blush White Majolica spray roses, white waxflowers and silvery blue dusty miller, with dark green ti leaf and sweet huck greenery. Lark Chamber Music provided music for the ceremony and cocktail hour.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Conger, Jr. of Bainbridge, Georgia. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee Farr of Columbus, Georgia.

The bride, escorted by her father, wore a natural color strapless silk dupioni wedding gown with a beaded and crystal belt at the waist. The dress featured a cascade asymmetrical skirt with a bubble hem and a chapel length train. It was complemented by a matching two-tier fingertip veil with silk edging.  The bride carried a medium hand-tied naturally arranged bouquet of white and light blush peonies with the stems wrapped in ivory organdy ribbon with pearl pin accents. She wore a diamond circle necklace and diamond earrings belonging to her mother and carried a handkerchief belonging to her grandmother, Ava Joy Elliott. This handkerchief was used by her grandmother to make the bride’s christening cap.

The mother of the bride wore an aqua street-length silk shantung sheath featuring lace with pearl accents at the waist and a matching coat with pearl and lace accents on three-quarter length sleeves.  The mother of the groom wore an aqua tea length lace and chiffon dress with sequin accents and matching lace jacket. Each carried a small posy of ivory/blush White Majolica and light blush Pink Majolica spray roses with blush waxflower accents.

Amanda Pennington McBride served as matron of honor. Rachel Jeanne Anderson served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Shannon Mercedes Audrey Kundey (sister of the groom), Kelly Amanda Blair, Jenny Lynn Dickson, and Amanda Elaine Simmons. The matron of honor, maid of honor, and bridesmaids wore cocktail-length dresses of Tiffany blue peau de soie. The matron and maid of honor carried hand-tied naturally arranged bouquets of white hydrangeas, light blush peonies, and ivory/blush White Majolica spray roses with waxflower accents and silvery blue dusty miller leaves. The bridesmaids carried hand-tied naturally arranged bouquets of white hydrangeas, light blush Bridal Akito roses and ivory/blush White Majolica spray roses, with waxflower accents and silvery blue dusty miller leaves.

Jon Everard Smith and Joshua Daniel Pringle served as best men. The groomsmen were Rayaj Ansari Ahamed, Joseph Aaron Laminack, Richard Andrew Johnson, Jr., and Zachery Loyd Tilson.

The garden reception given by the bride’s parents followed on the grounds at the Taylor-Grady House beneath white tents with twinkle lighting. The tables were covered in silver cloths with arrangements of white hydrangeas, spray roses, waxflowers, and small votives.  The guests enjoyed a cocktail buffet and danced to the music of 7 Sharp 9.

The bride and groom’s cakes were served in the formal dining room of the Taylor-Grady House. The bride’s cake was a three-tiered white cake decorated with alternating layers of reverse ruffles and swiss dots, featuring fresh pink peonies on the top and sides.  The layers were Italian crème and white chocolate with raspberry filling topped with buttercream frosting.  The groom’s cake was a two-tired chocolate tiramisu cake.

Following the wedding, the couple left for their honeymoon in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.  They are making their home in Atlanta, GA.
