Coach Rickey McCullough’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats basketball team defeated the Americus-Sumter County High School Panthers 92-70 Saturday in Americus to wrap up as the No. 2 seed in this week’s Region 1-AAAA Tournament.

Leading the way for the Bearcats were Devontae Jones with 19 points. Tyree Crump added 15 and Myles Thomas put in 11.

Coach McCullough thought his defense was the difference in the game, pointing out it was difficult for the Panthers to get open looks at the basket.

The Bearcats, who are the No. 2 seed in the tournament, took on the number three-seeded Monroe High School Tornadoes Tuesday.

The tournament finals will be February 11 and 12 at Americus-Sumter County.

“We feel good going into the Region Tournament,” coach McCullough said. “We are getting consistent double figure performances from Tyree Crump, Myles Thomas and Trevon Shaw.”
