Bainbridge baseball player Drew Clayton has signed with Thomas University to further his athletic career. The shortstop inked his commitment Friday afternoon. He said his signing is a “dream come true.”
“I’ve worked very hard for this,” Clayton said. “A lot of hours and a lot of time spent, a lot of people that pour all the help they can into you, and this is the result.”
Clayton said he’s committed to his craft as he takes this next step. He also said he’s glad he’ll still be close to home after high school— Thomas University is less than an hour’s drive from Bainbridge.
“My mother’s very happy with that,” Clayton said. “I’m always just a phone call away, that played a big role in my decision.”
Clayton said his best memories as a Bearcat came in the playoffs, especially in his freshman year when the team made it to the final four of the state playoffs.
“It’s always been a blast, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” Clayton said.
